DEVELOPER MONTREAUX TARGETS NATIONAL EXPANSION
Following a period of robust growth over recent years, mixed-use developer Montreaux is poised for national expansion as it snaps up new land deals. Founded in 2014, the company has rapidly established itself as a leader in residential led mixed-use and urban regeneration projects in London and the South East. Montreaux is now proactively seeking new sites across the country, including build to rent following its recent move into the sector.
Montreaux aims to capitalise on current opportunities in the market including lifestyle changes brought about by the pandemic as it grows its portfolio. To date its business has focused on London and surroundings with landmark mixed-use sites currently under development that include the Middlesex Business Centre in Southall, the site of the former B&Q in Cricklewood and Ilford Retail Park. While this region will remain at the core of the business, it is now broadening its focus to actively seek residential led opportunities in the West Country and Midlands.
With a proven track record in achieving exceptional return for investors, Montreaux specialises in the procurement of consented and unconditional land, driving the planning and development of each site to deliver exceptional places to live and work. Its current developments represent a GDV in excess of £2.5bn with a further pipeline of circa £650m. It has good access to funding and is an agile and flexible business that can move fast on investments, gaining advantage through shrewd investment strategy, smart asset management and a planning team that delivers outstanding results. Its portfolio under development totals in excess of 5,000 properties and over 500,000 sq ft of commercial space.
David Burke, Chief Executive of Montreaux, comments: “We are extremely well-positioned for continued growth across London and the South East, but now the time is right for us to expand operations in the Midlands and South West. We have launched an ambitious new build to rent division running in parallel with our existing business and we are now actively seeking opportunities.”
“We are specifically looking to purchase urban regeneration projects of up to 1,000 units and schemes of up to 150 units for our expanding suburban division.”
“The challenges of the past year are contributing to a unique set of opportunities for the property market. One of the many side effects of these circumstances has been the increased speed of change in our lifestyles and our working practices. These changes have raised many important questions about the future of high streets and city centres, the future of working from home and how we create spaces that support the wellbeing of inhabitants and the environment. We now see new avenues to cater for these changes by creating homes and places that serve to enhance the lives of those living there. Residential need is undergoing a period of change, and we will be a part of that change both through our residential sales offering and our exciting new move into build to rent.”
Selecting sites strategically, Montreaux’s in-house planning team has extensive expertise allowing it to purchase sites unconditionally. Montreaux prides itself on delivering landmark town centre developments in excellent locations with good amenities and connections. It works closely with its network of partners including leading architects to ensure innovative, design-led schemes that suit the needs of local communities now and into the future.
